St. James Church is an Anglican Church built in 1836. Its also known as Skinner;s Church as it was commissioned by Colonel James Skinner who was an Anglo-Indian soldier. Its a beautiful and classic example of the Greek Cross & Italian Renaissance dome design.The altar is made to closely resemble that of the Florence Cathedral in Italy, with a huge octagonal dome at the centre, beautiful stained glass windows & porticoed porches. The copper cross & ball at the top of the central dome are believed to be a replica of a well-known church in Venice. Morning prayers & supper are held every Sunday.It is surrounded by beautiful gardens that lend the place a peaceful and serene ambiance in the otherwise hustle- bustle of the city.
